Guru Poornima !!!
Guru !!
The word remind us the nursery teachers of our beautiful schools whom we use to greet with lovely flowers, but what guru really means in this 20s of our lives ??
Is it??
One who kills our inner fear or
One who turns stone into a beautiful sculpture or
One who pushes their Shishya in water in spite of knowing that they cannot swim, just to make them realize
their abilities and capabilities. I think all of the above are our gurus because they teach us something or the other.
We all know new born baby birds are pushed down the high cliffs by their parents to make them sense the presence of their own wings, this is the real magic guru does on their shishya !!
Learning process starts right from taking birth & continues till death and the mediator in this process is none other than "Guru" the sculptor of our character and wisdom .
Guru-Shishya is a mutual relationship which makes life of many, but at the same time when it becomes one way its useless this is practically proven since ages.
Lets talk about the great guru & shishya duo.........
EKALAVYA & DRONACHARYA
Ekalavya was the one who learned Archery by being very very committed to his guru, BUT all what his guru did was to ask him gurudakshina of his thumb ,The thumb without which Archery was simply impossible !! & guess what? Ekalavya without thinking anything gave him his own thumb.
This was logically, practically & emotionally proven incorrect for both, I mean how could a guru ask shishya to give his vidya back this is really terrifying !! I don't mean shishya should not have respect for his guru but this kind of sacrifice is not worth doing in today,s era.
Punishments from gurus are just like vaccines which prevents the spread of virus in body and its impossible to stay disease free without vaccines but accepting the punishment without
any sort of mistake is even greater mistake we all are familar with story of Lokmanya Tilak
he was the great person who stood against wrong when he was asked to accept the punishment for spreading peanut shells litter in the entire class he refused to accept the punishment, stating he hadn't eaten the peanuts and wouldn't participate in the punishment. This teaches us not to accept the punishment which we don't really deserve.
This is how modern shishya should behave he should never lie & most of all never ever disrespect his guru.
There is thin line between punishment and emotional torture similar to mistake and crime its very important to know what's good and what's bad for our wellbeing
Everything becomes easy when we understand this difference, we means both guru and shishya. The most pure relation in the world is that of Guru and shishya, which is full of trust, respect, devotion & obedience towards their Gurus. Happy Guru Poornima to all the gurus that contributed in my life ! Lets end this with beautiful shloka
गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णुः
गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः ।
गुरुःसाक्षात् परब्रह्म
तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नम: ॥
